Benfica loan Barrenechea from Aston Villa with an option to buy

In the statement made by the club, it was stated that an agreement was reached with Aston Villa for the loan of Enzo Barrenechea for 3 million euros for the 2025/26 season, and the following opinions were included:

"The Argentine midfielder comes to the club on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the 2025/26 season. The agreement includes a purchase option, which may become mandatory if certain targets are met, and envisages the permanent transfer of the player's sporting rights in the amount of 12 million euros. Aston Villa will be entitled to 30 percent of the player's future transfer fee, up to a maximum of €10 million."

Barrenechea spent last season on loan at Spanish side Valencia, making 31 appearances in LaLiga.
