Previous reports claimed that Maignan and Milan had reached a verbal agreement, although the Rossoneri took time to put pen to paper due to strategic and on-the-pitch considerations.

The goalkeeper’s contract at San Siro expires in June 2026, and talks over a new deal are on hold. Maignan joined Milan in 2021 for €16m from Lille, replacing Gigio Donnarumma, who joined PSG as a free agent that summer.

Also Chelsea have been linked with other Serie A goalkeepers, including Torino’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, as their coach Enzo Maresca is reportedly willing to bring in a new player between the posts for 2025-26.

Milan have hired Lazio legend Igli Tare as a new sporting director for 2025-26. They have also appointed Max Allegri as their new coach, giving the Italian tactician a contract to 2027 with an option for a further campaign.

What did Milan say about Maignan’s future?

Milan director Geoffrey Moncada spoke about Maignan and Theo Hernandez’s future at the club during one of his latest pre-match interviews with DAZN.

“As I said last time, we are working on the contracts. At the end of the season, we’ll know everything and it will be much clearer,” Moncada said.

Theo Hernandez may also be heading towards an exit from Milan this summer, as the Rossoneri have already received an offer exceeding €30m from Al-Hilal.
