Official: EuroLegue will be played with 20 teams!
The EuroLeague announced that the league will be played with 20 teams from now on.

The number of teams competing in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague has been increased. At the EuroLeague board meeting, it was announced that the proposal for the organization to play with 20 teams from next season was approved. The last time Fenerbahce Beko was champion, 18 teams played in a league format.

What was said by EuroLeague?
In the statement made on the official website, the following words were said: "The Board of Shareholders of Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) convened on Thursday, May 29, 2025, to deliberate on key strategic initiatives aimed at shaping the future of the competitions.
During the meeting, the Board approved the proposal to expand the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to 20 teams beginning with the 2025–26 season. This proposal will be submitted to the General Assembly for final ratification. In parallel, the Board agreed to present a preliminary list of proposed participating teams, contingent upon the completion of all required formalities.
The Board also held initial discussions regarding potential additional expansion scenarios for seasons beyond 2025–26. Further information will be disclosed to the public as it becomes available."
